Certain weather can wear down your car’s surface. Car waxing retains a shiny finish and seals it against rust, dirt, and other elements. Most vehicles need to be waxed twice per year. Here are things to know about car waxing.

What Is Car Detailing?

Car detailing is a full cleaning of your vehicle using certain products and equipment. The process involves cleaning and reconditioning your vehicle from the inside-out. The overall goal of this process is to refurbish the exterior paint by eradicating scratches and other flaws to make the vehicle appear in like-new condition.

How to Wax a Car by Hand

Apply Car Wax or Paint Sealant:

Make sure that you're located in the shade when you apply car wax or paint sealant. The vehicle should be dry since drops of water on the paint can cause the product to streak. When you’re applying the coat, it should be thin. If you add thick coats, then it will be a tedious task to remove it. Buff one coat off prior to applying another thin coat. You can use poly foam wax applicators to accomplish a thin, and even coat. They absorb easily and are affordable.

Buff the Haze Away with Microfiber:

Use a quality microfiber towel to buff your paint to an impressive shine as you remove the residue of the car polish. The fibers polish the paint as you buff, and the microfiber does not shed lint. Keep an extra microfiber towel nearby just in case the first one becomes loaded with wax.

How to Wax a Car Using a Machine

Choose a Finishing Pad to Apply the Wax:

The finishing pad is absorbent and soft but is also firm enough to handle the machine pressure. If you’re using a wax or sealant, apply the polisher on the paint and circulate the wax over the panel prior to turning on the machine. Set the dual action polisher to the maximum speed of three. Disperse the wax over the panel until it’s completely covered. Turn the machine off prior to taking it off the paint.

Buff with a Microfiber Cloth:

Once you have finished applying the wax, buff with a microfiber cloth. You can do this by hand.
